Our speech-language pathologists (SLPs) help children build communication skills by strengthening their understanding of language and social skills. This support helps children connect with peers, express themselves, and thrive in their daily environments. Speech and language services focus on:
Speech sound production: This includes articulation, or the clear pronunciation of words, and phonology, the use of sound patterns in language.
Expressive language: The ability to use words, sentences, and gestures to communicate thoughts and needs.
Receptive language: The ability to understand and process spoken or written language.
Fluency: Working to reduce stuttering and other disruptions in the flow of speech.
Cognitive communication: Improving skills like memory, attention, organization, and problem-solving that are necessary for effective communication.
Pragmatic language: The ability to understand social language and how language changes in different social settings, comprehension of non-verbal language and comprehension of nuances of language.
Literacy: Addressing reading and writing delays, which are often linked to spoken language difficulties.
Our pediatric occupational therapists (OTs) help children participate more fully in daily activities and guide families with supportive strategies that make a difference at home, school, and in the community. By addressing underlying challenges, children develop confidence and independence in play, self-care, and other functional tasks.
Sensory Processing: supporting children and caregivers in understanding the child's unique sensory needs and how best to support participation in everyday activities through body awareness, developmentally appropriate regulation skills, and supportive routines
Feeding: developing skills for cup drinking, utensil use, and managing food textures and food aversions
Self-Care: building independence with hygiene, dressing, toileting, and sleep routines
Bilateral Coordination: developing strength and coordination to support the use of both hands together for functional tasks like dressing, cutting, bathing, and play
Fine Motor & Visual Motor Integration: improving hand strength, grasp, precision & dexterity, visual perception, and hand-eye coordination
Executive Functioning: building self-awareness, developmentally appropriate emotional regulation, attention, problem-solving, and task initiation
